Song of Solomon 5:16 “His mouth is full of sweetness, and He is wholly desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” Ephesians 2:7 “so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” 1 Peter 2:3 “..if you have tasted the kindness of our Lord.” Romans 2:4 “Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?”
As believers, we were wired specifically to hear God’s voice. He loves to speak to us. I know for me, I had to learn to distinguish His voice among all the noisy clutter in my mind, and sometimes it could be confusing. There are so many factors that shape our thinking, plus we have a real adversary that is hurling his thoughts like arrows in our minds trying to deceive us into thinking that his voice is God’s voice. One of the verses the Lord used to help me on my journey was the above mentioned in the Song of Solomon, which states that His voice is full of sweetness. Also, He used many others to let me know that His voice displays His kindness. Kindness is a fruit of the Spirit, which is His very character. Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice and that they won’t follow the voice of a stranger. Let’s ask Him to help us distinguish between the sounds that deceive us and His wonderful words to us. The test of authenticity is kindness.
